Teach children that this is not ok
Teach children that there’s nothing wrong with this
I’m really not understanding why you think cultural appropriation would be ok, unless you are assuming that the girl in the picture is part Japanese.
Yellow face yet she’s using white makeup in the traditional style but okay.
Cultural appropriation isn’t a thing, hon. ☺️ Cultures should be shared by all means.
I disagree. The makeup is clearly reflective of traditional Geisha makeup which is yellowface and therefore racist. Furthermore, the girl is wearing a kimono, a garment that has for ages carried cultural significance. Assuming that she is white how can you think this is ok? And cultural appropriation isn’t a thing? What rock do you live under? I suggest you educate yourself on the differences between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation.
I am japanese, in japan at this very moment. The only people who think culture shouldnt be shared are racists like you.
A vast majority of Japanese people actually enjoy other people making an effort to spread and enjoy japanese culture, and encourage it. Many make businesses in deliberately taking pictures of people in kimono. A common omiage (gift) for foreigners from japanese people is traditional japanese things such as kimonos, tea seats, shisa dog statues, ect.
And to top it off, basically 80 percent of japanese customs, traditions, and food, came from other countries. Japanese is an integration of different cultures, like america. Japan takes influences from places like korea, china, russia, and europe. If japan stuck to itself, there would be no tempura, japanese tea, tea ceremonies, kabuki, japanese bread, japanese curry, j- pop, anime, cars, or modern fishing techniques. The picture is not “yellow face” they are not making fun of asians. In fact, it looks like they put extra care and research into their work.
The only reason that you have a problem with this is because that little girl is white and you know that it is acceptable on tumblr to crap all over white people. The only racist here is you.

Dang she got shut down.
Damn I’ve never hit reblog so fast in my entire fucking life
Daaaaamn
Pew pew pew
I reblog this every time I see it
I live in Japan and I’d like to back up this sentiment.
Recently a museum in Boston came under a lot of fire for allowing visitors to wear a ‘kimono’ (it was featuring a painting my Monet of a girl – a white girl – in a kimono, and the museum had replicas made that guests of ANY RACE could wear to mimic the painting, Pageant-of-the-Masters style). After protests and heated debate, the museum closed the event.
I was living in Japan at the time, and out of all the *actual* Japanese people I asked, not a single one was offended by the event. Rather, they were excited that people half a world away were showing interest in their culture, and were sad that visitors could no longer enjoy the event.
This party, though somewhat silly in application, is an attempt at experiencing and appreciating another culture. The mom who put this together is not an expert on Japan, but she did her best. She got a lot of things right: there are few things Japan loves more than tea, Pocky, and sakura.
Where do you draw the line for who is “allowed” to learn about Japan? If the girl were of Japanese descent, would that make it ok (even though her citizenship would be the same as the girl from the photo)? If one of the girl’s parents were from Japan, then would it be ok?
Are you only allowed to make pizza if you live in Italy? If you’re an Italian immigrant? How do we decide these things??
You can’t say you want to dismantle racism and then in the next breath make rules – based on race – for who people can wear, try, or eat, especially when the intent is obviously to have fun experiencing a culture (as opposed to having fun by making fun of a race or culture, like blackface does).
When you tell people they can only experience things ‘meant for their race’, it totally smacks of segregation to me and I can’t stand it. As someone who (obviously) loves Japan, I say let people learn about it, let people experience it, let people appreciate it. You don’t have to know every single thing about a culture to enjoy it.
fucking people got owned is what, fuck i hate how people say you cant do shit when culture should be shared and is shared its how it grows and changes through fucking generations itS HOW YOU LEARN about the world and just fucking, tumblr fucking stupid like 70% of the dam time
this new light
It should be viewed as positive that a child is learning to respect another culture through dress-up play rather than just talking about it. If most kids learned about other cultures through dress-up play, there would be a lot less instances of racism, thus making the world a better place to live in
The Suitcase PC - part 1, introduction and planning
I recently decided I wanted to build a pc dedicated for lans, because I was kinda annoyed that I needed to be driven whenever I was going to a lan.
My original plan was to tear apart my xbox 360 and build it in the xbox case. And so, I tore it apart but ended up finding out that squeezing a discrete graphics card in there was pretty much impossible. After I found out that I couldn’t do it, I saw some of the problems with it; I was gonna need to bring a monitor with me anyway, making the setup less practical for transport by train, which was the primary objective.
The new and current plan is to build the pc inside a suitcase, with a monitor built-in to the top of the case, so basically a laptop with amazing gaming performance and no battery (maybe a little bigger an heavier than laptops too). When I started planning and drawing the suitcase build, I started out using m-itx and small parts like with the xbox, but after some research i found out that I could actually fit a full-atx mobo in there, and maybe go for SLI at some point.
I drew it out and it all fit, now i just needed to find out the exact hardware I was gonna put in there, at the time I was thinking a 4690k and a mobo with z97 and sli support. This plan was quickly changed when I talked to one of my friends about some ram he was willing to give me for free to put in the pc, he mentioned some of the other hardware he had lying around. He had a 4670k and a z87 mobo, and I could get this for pretty cheap, he even had an h80 cpu cooler for cheap. So this would be the base of the system, his ram, cpu, mobo and cooler. Another friend had a cx600m that he was willing to give me if I came over and took it out of his old pc, not the greatest psu of all time, but this computer wont have *that* much on time, being a pc used for occasional events, so its probably fine. I also happened to be upgrading my laptop with a new ssd anyway, so now I have a 2.5″ hdd available for use in the lan pc until I decide to get an ssd.
So this is how it looks right now for a parts list:
- CPU: Intel 4670k
- Cooler: Corsair h80
- Mobo: Asus z87k
- Ram: Traumatizer 2x4GB 1866mhz
- HDD: 750GB 5400 rpm 2.5″
- PSU: Corsair CX600M
- OS: Probably Linux until I want to spend money on Windows
- GPU: No idea, I might get a used 970 or a 960 or something like that
And apart from the strictly pc hardware, I’m also gonna need:
- A big hard-case suitcase
- Some aluminium sheets for internal structure
- Some sort of foam for softening between touching parts
- Plexiglas so i can see into the computer when the suitcase is open
- Some hinges so the io isn’t accessible in transport and for making a quick-swap system for 2.5″ drives
- Power and Reset buttons/switches, gonna be Cherry MX greens
- Key caps for the buttons
- Leds for power and hdd activity for use in the switches
- Probably a lot of hot-glue to get stuff to stick together
I also wanna have some “special” hardware in there that’s gonna be really practical for lans:
- A builtin network switch that preconnected to the mobo, so I can easily connect to the internet and let others connect via my pc
- A built-in phone charger for micro usb
- A strip of power sockets with one external power cable, preconnected to the switch, pc, monitor, and phone charger
And as for the monitor I had some requirements:
- It needs to be 21.5″ or less
- It needs to be 1080p because I’m not building a system for anything less
- It needs to be ips, because I at least want that when I can’t get a 144hz monitor in that size
- Built-in speakers is a plus if other people need to hear whats going on, so they don’t need to wear my headset
One of the few monitors that fulfilled all these is the Samsung S22C650D, So that’s the one I’m going to go with.
I think this is pretty much it for part 1, I’m gonna post part 2 in a couple of days describing some of the mods and things I’m gonna do myself to get a fully functional, super practical, super portable, super powerful, and decently cheap lan pc. Things like the 2.5″ drive installation, gpu installation, cooling, front panel stuff, and more.
Woah, that was a lot of writing… See you soon!
Everytime I ask myself why I even got Tumblr in the first place, everybody loves to remind me.

Minnie from the Trickster Deity!Mickey thing I was doing.
My aesthetic is just loose-non-form Fitting gowns. I want flowing and openness from the designs and a lot of fabric…
Idk i think it’ll make the outfits interesting…
“My offering to the God of Chaos…is a dance; may he be pleased…”
Minnie is adorned with gold and rubies, legend states these were created by the Chaos deity Michael to ‘drive mortals to madness’ with their greed. Every year the villagers dress up the Guest tribute with these jewels to ‘honor’ the deity. But really its to keep his focus on them while the villagers hope for another peaceful year…
Oh but he never really cared about the tributes… Until this year…

One of my favorite things about House of Mouse is when you can basically see Minnie, somehow, someway, just start thinking “This one. This idiot. This is the guy I fall for over and over again across time and space. This dork.”
